The Baphuon Temple is one of the grandest structures in Angkor. Built in the mid-11th century, it was initially dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, but later it became a Buddhist temple.
The temple is a three-tiered pyramid structure, symbolizing Mount Meru, the sacred mountain.
The temple had almost completely collapsed, and efforts to rebuild it took decades, earning it the nickname "the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle."
