If you’re looking for Jungle Book vibes, Ta Keo is it. The road to go to the temple, seems to come straight out of a Disney movie.
It is known as a temple-mountain in the Angkor complex, known for its grand scale and minimalist design. Dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, it was built in the late 10th to early 11th century, making it one of the earliest large-scale stone temples in Angkor.
What makes Ta Keo unique is its unfinished state. Legend has it a lightning struck the temple, which was considered a bad omen. As a result, much of the detailed carvings are missing.
The temple stands on a pyramid, with steep stairways leading to the summit, offering panoramic views of the surrounding jungle.
Climbing Ta Keo rewards visitors with a bird’s-eye view of the Angkor Archaeological Park.
