Just across the border when driving from Slovenia into Croatia is this beautiful castle called Trakošcan castle. This is a great place to stap on your way to Zagreb, which is located 1hour and 15 minutes driving distance from the castle. Trakoscan Castle is a medieval castle located on a hill next to a picturesque lake and surrounded by forests. Built in the 13th century, it has a rich history and now serves as a museum and tourist attraction. You can also visit some rooms inside the castle but unfortunately it is forbidden to take photos on the inside.The castle is on a hill so it does requires walking uphill for a few minutes but it is definitely worth it! Entrance to the castle is just 7€. There were hardly any people here so I would consider it a hidden gem! This beautiful castle is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.
