Ever heard from eSwatini? Or maybe the former name 'Swaziland' rings a bell. This small country with a size similar to the Walloon area in Belgium, is one of the last absolute kingdoms in the world. With almost 70% of the population living in poverty, the scenery changes when you cross the South African - eSwatini border.
We spend one night in eSwatini, more specifically in Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. It's not a big game reserve, but home to multiple antelopes, crocodiles, gnoes, warthogs and many more.
This sanctuary gives you a glimps on the authentic eSwatini culture. You spend the night in a beehive room made of hay and at night people of a nearby village come to show some traditional dancing which they still do during marriage ceremonies.
During the day we went on a walking safari with a ranger who gave us a lot of new and interesting information about the fauna and flora living in the area. Are you feeling sporty? Rent a mountainbike and go for a ride through the park. And if it's hot, you can relax in the large swimming pool of the park.
