Lovina, located in the north of Bali, is renowned for its dolphin swimming experiences. Every morning, dozens of boats filled with tourists head out to sea, chasing after dolphins.
Because of this, we opted not to visit Lovina but still wanted to catch a glimpse of this part of Bali. We ended up in Kubatambahan, where we stayed at Coco Garden Air Sanih. This region is more remote, with hardly any tourists around.
During a stroll on the beach, we were approached by a local. He inquired about our presence and origins. He told us he owned a boat and asked if we were interested in joining him on a trip out to sea. Perhaps we'd encounter dolphins! A scam or genuine interest? I'll leave that to the imagination.
The next morning we set out before sunrise, venturing onto the sea in what must have been the narrowest boat I've ever seen. Within fifteen minutes, we spotted the first dolphins leaping out of the water. Wow, wow, wow! Not a single other boat in sight. We didn't venture into the water ourselves but observed the animals from a distance. Incredibly magical.
