Visiting the smallest country in the world, a must do when you are in Rome.
Here are four tips for visiting this breathtaking place.
1. Every Wednesday (9:30am) and Sunday (12:00pm) the Pope gives a speech/prayer at St. Peter’s square, a unique experience. However, if you want to avoid crowds, then don’t visit the Vatican on these days!
2. Climb the cupola for the best view of St. Peter’s square. It involves climbing about 550 steps and the staircase gets narrower the higher you get (don’t do it if you are claustrophobic). Costs for climbing the coupola by stairs are 8€. The view once you are on top is amazing, I absolutely recommend this, I took all my visitors here! To climb the coupola, you need a ticket. It costs you 8 euro if you walk and 10 euro if you also take a part with the elevator. The elevator can only be used for a very small part.
3. Book tickets for Musei Vaticani in advance, especially during the weekends and with bad weather, tickets are sold out quickly!
4. You can visit St. Peter's Basilica for free. Sometimes there are long queues to check your bag, but these go faster than you think.
