Visit the historic fortified village of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Entirely made out of compressed earth, clay and wood, the 'ksar' has recently been restored to its old glory, according to authentic methods. Nowadays, the old city is alive with little artist shops and beautiful carpets on display, ideal to visit later in the day once the tourist buses have departed.
