The Batu Caves are located a 30-min drive north of Kuala Lumpur. The caves itself are 400 million years old but only gained prominence as a religious site for Hindus in the late 19th century.
The colourful Hindu shrines and steps towards the caves, make it an impressive place to visit which is why it welcomes millions of tourists every year.
Long-tailed macaques roam around freely around the temple and cave complex. But be cautious, keep a safe distance and don’t carry any food or drinks openly to avoid confrontation.
As it’s a temple, make sure you have a proper outfit.
