I visited Saint-Mathieu Lighthouse early in the morning, with the light bringing out the rugged beauty of the coast. Next to the lighthouse are the haunting ruins of a 6th-century Benedictine abbey. Standing inside the roofless buildings, surrounded by stone walls open to the sky, felt truly special.
This historic spot has guided sailors and pilgrims for centuries—a peaceful, atmospheric place that’s well worth a visit.
