Catching waves at Weligama

Sri Lanka is known as a surfing hotspot. 🏄🏽‍♀️ One of the best places on Sri Lanka’s Southern coast to catch some (first) waves is Weligama, located in-between Galle and Mirissa. Due to its shallow sand beach and small, consistent waves, it is the ideal place for beginners to try out surfing. Weligama’s coastline covers a 2 kilometer long shallow beach and can therefore accommodate a lot of surfers, so you will always find a spot that isn’t too crowded. There are plenty of surf schools right on the beach to rent materials or take surf lessons. And after a fun and energy-burning hour of catching waves, you can relax and have some delicious foods and drink at one of the many beachside bars and restaurants and watch other suffers having a good time.
