A visit to Alcatraz cannot be missed when visiting San Francisco. Who hasn’t heard about the notorious, scary prison that was built on an island? These imposing walls and the captivating stories of former inmates is what keeps visitors intrigued.
To get there, you have to take a ferry from Pier 33. Make sure to arrive on time, because the lines grow fast! Of course, as with everything, the earlier you arrive the better your chances. Less than 10 minutes after departing you’ll arrive at the island.
